About Wendy Long
Wendy Long
Wendy is a retired Federal Public Servant and first-generation Canadian with a profound sense of justice, truth, equality, and fairness. In 2017, she founded a grassroots organisation, Afghan-Canadian Interpreters, advocating for an immigration process for Afghans who served with the Canadian Armed Forces and was instrumental in advocating for the Special Immigration Measures Public Policy, including de facto family members, announced on July 23, 2021. Afghanistan raised awareness of the need for an international organisation to ensure that local staff are not forgotten, especially in times of conflict. Wendy remains committed to this cause in her current role as Resettlement Director at Aman Lara. She continues to ensure that clients are connected to the services and agencies they need to enable them to find success in Canada.
